What is Under Floor
Heating?
Under floor heating is a form of central heating system
installed under the floor in order to control the indoor climate.
Some people use the term “radiant heating” when referring to
the system used in under floor heating because radiation is partly used for it but
“radiant heating” is actually only technically correct if radiation composes
more than 50% of the heat exchange between the floor and the rest of the area.
What are the
Advantages of Using Under Floor Heating?
There are a lot of advantages in using under floor heating,
and learning about them is important especially if you’re having a home renovation
soon and are thinking about switching to a different heating system.
No maintenance – This is possibly the biggest advantage
especially for people who are too busy with work, etc. Because there are no
parts, there is virtually no needed maintenance for this type of heating. All
problems such as leaks would have been identified early on during the
installation.
Comfort – Because it’s installed under the floor, the heat
from this type of heating system goes from the floor up. Aside from the fact
that you’ll be walking in heated floors (which is much more comfortable), the
entire room is more effectively heated than when using conventional heating.
Freedom of design – Most modern homes use the minimalist
style, which means a clean, crisp design for the entire house. This kind of
design does not welcome big appliances or anything that’s takes a lot of space
which means heaters are not a welcome sight as well.
Safety – Under floor heating is hidden under the floor plus
there’s no protruding radiators thereby lessening the chances of small children
burning from running into it.
Other Benefits of
Using Under Floor Heating
While dust can be inhaled by everybody, some people are more
sensitive to it and their body will react to it through allergies. If anybody
in the house is allergic to dust then you must really consider under floor
heating. This type of heating system produce much less airborne dust than
radiators and convection currents.
Energy efficient – Under floor heating is heated by warm
water, which is heated at a much lower temperature than I required by
radiators. This means a household using under floor heating can save more on
energy by up to 50%.
